As children we are taught to dream. We are made to believe that we can be and do anything that we have the power to think of. Unfortunately somewhere down the road, we are taught to stop dreaming. As adults, we are made to believe that there is no time to fantasize about all of the things that we want and long for. At some point it is more important to make a living than to actually live. So many of us get caught up in simply checking off all of the boxes. We get up, take care of home, go to work, pay bills, and repeat…
What was often meant to be a temporary job, that pays the bills and keeps food on the table, becomes our life. We tell ourselves that we can’t afford to go invest in continuing our education, or we shouldn’t take that leap of faith and invest in that business that we always wanted to run. It’s because we got so caught up in that daily struggle to juggle it all, that we lost sight of who we are as individuals and what we actually want.
Failure to make time for self-care has put us in a place to no longer see our dreams as goals that can be achieved. I’m here to remind you that you can still have everything in life that you desire. When we focus on our individual needs and wants, it puts us in a place to visualize our goals and actually be in a space to create a plan to achieve them.
Life is about walking in purpose and doing what you were put on this earth to do. There is nothing wrong with working any job to take care of yourself and your family. However, feeling like you are capable of doing more and not working towards whatever that may be, because you always put yourself at the bottom of the priority list is not ok…. its unacceptable!
Waking up and going through the motions just to cut a check, is like operating on autopilot. There is no joy in that routine. Opening your eyes and knowing you are about to make steps in the direction of something that makes you happy, is a feeling that cannot be put into words. When we start taking care of ourselves, mind, body, and soul, that is when we truly start living. Make self-care a priority and start aligning your goals with plans to achieve them. Your dreams can still become your reality !
